ASUU Begins Indefinite Strike at LAUTECH Ogbomoso Over Unpaid Entitlements
Lecturers at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, have downed tools indefinitely after a 14-day ultimatum to management expired. Here is what led to the strike and what it means for students.

Academic activities at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, have ground to a halt after the university's branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) began a total and indefinite strike at midnight on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
The decision was taken at an emergency congress of the branch on Wednesday, October 28, shortly after a 14-day ultimatum the union gave university management expired. According to reports, the union's last meeting with the Vice-Chancellor before the deadline ended without agreement.
Why ASUU LAUTECH is on strike
In a statement signed by the branch chairperson, Prof. Olujimi Dada, and branch secretary, Dr Soji Arinola, the union listed its main grievances:
Unpaid entitlements owed to academic staff of the university.
Unresolved agreements between the union and the university.
Non-implementation of the 2025 agreement between the Federal Government and ASUU at LAUTECH.
The union described the action as "total, comprehensive and indefinite," meaning members will not teach, conduct examinations or carry out other academic duties until the issues are resolved.
What the strike means for LAUTECH students
For thousands of students in Ogbomoso, the strike means lectures, tests and examinations are suspended for now. Final-year students working on projects, and candidates awaiting the start of the 2026/2027 session, are likely to be the most affected if the dispute drags on.
As of the time of writing, there was no public response from university management and no timetable for resolving the dispute. The length of the strike will depend on negotiations between the union, management and the Oyo State Government, which owns the university.
What students should do now
Follow official LAUTECH and ASUU LAUTECH channels for verified updates, and be wary of fake "resumption" notices on social media.
Keep copies of course materials and continue private study so you are ready when lectures resume.
If you are in student housing around Under G, Adenike and Stadium areas, speak with landlords early about your plans.
Inside Ogbomoso will keep following the LAUTECH strike and will update this story as negotiations progress.
